Currency exchange works by letting you convert one currency, like dollars, to another, like euros. You give a currency exchange an amount in one currency, and they give you back an amount of a different currency with a similar purchasing power, subtracting out any fees or other charges.

If you know the exchange rate, divide your current currency by the exchange rate. For example, suppose that the USD/EUR exchange rate is 0.631 and you'd like to convert 100 USD into EUR. To accomplish this, simply multiply the 100 by 0.631 and the result is the number of EUR that you will receive: 63.10 EUR.

Cross currency triangulation works by first converting the monetary amounts from one national currency unit (source currency) into an intermediate currency (anchor currency). The calculation then coverts the amount in the intermediate currency into the designated national currency unit (target currency).

A transferable contract known as "currency futures" provides a price at which a specific currency can be purchased or sold on a future date. This type of contract is legally binding, and the pair of currency must be traded by the parties holding the contract on the delivery date at the specific price.

To calculate the Cross Rate, divide the quote currency by the base currency on the opposite side. The below table will help you derive the rate for a cross-currency pair, say, JPY/AUD. Calculate the Cross Rate by multiplying the quote currency with the base currency on the same side.
