Size Columns Form For Free

Upon careful review, there is no option to change the column size for text box of Likert questions in Microsoft Forms.

Hover the mouse over the line between two columns. The cursor will turn into a double arrow. Double-click the mouse. The column's width will be changed to fit the content.

As per your description, in Microsoft Form there is no out of box way to meet your requirement. Based on my test result and after search a lot, In Microsoft Forms, when access Likert questions, currently we cannot change the column size (we cannot adjust the width of the columns) of Likert section questions.

After you insert a layout table on your form template, you can change the size or alignment of the layout table. You can also change the dimensions of the individual parts of a layout table, such as the width and height of any of its columns and rows.

To AutoFit column width, select one, several or all columns on the sheet, go to the Home tab > Cells group, and click Format > AutoFit Column Width.
