Resolution Set Using a POST Function Locate your Workflow: > Issues > Workflows. Click Edit under Actions for your workflow. Select your "Done" transition, and Click POST Functions. This work around worked for me. Remove the Resolution field from all views but the Closed screen. Remove the default value for the Resolution field. Set a Validator up so that the Resolution field must be changed when transitioning to Closed.

Resolution is a special field in JIRA. It has an initial value of 'Unresolved', which means the field is NULL in the database. It is ALWAYS required when it appears on the screen. ONLY display it on the screen during a transition to the status where you want it set.

Look for the copy of the workflow in the page ? > Issues > Workflows and click on the Edit button next to it. This copy will be a temporary workflow that we will edit and use to fix the issue resolution field. Switch to the diagram view, then click on the Add a transition button to create a new temporary transition.

Open any impacted issue in the Jira issue view, and then transition them using the 'Fix Resolution' transition. This will reset the field to the desired resolution for all these issues. Alternatively, you can use a Bulk Operation to edit all the impacted issues and transition them using the 'Fix Resolution' transition.

Add, edit, and delete a resolution Select > Issues. Under ISSUE ATTRIBUTES, select Resolutions. Fill in the form below the existing resolutions. You can edit the name and description at any time. Click Add.

Any issue that has the Resolution field set is treated by Jira applications as "resolved". The Issue Navigator displays "Unresolved" when no resolution is set for an issue. So adding a resolution named Unresolved/None and setting it in an issue will mean that the issue is seen as resolved.
