RFP Insert Number Fields For Free

Add line numbers to a section or to multiple sections On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Line Numbers. Click Line Numbering Options, and then click the Layout tab. In the Apply to list, click Selected sections. Click Line Numbers.

Type the first line of text, then use Insert>Field and choose Seq in the right-hand list. In the field after SEQ, type an identifier like First, then OK out.

If you want all future documents to have numbered comments, check Add to template. Otherwise numbered comments will appear only in the current document. Click on the Format button and choose Numbering. Choose a numbering style, then OK out.

Position the cursor where you want to insert the number list. On the Home tab in the Ribbon, click the number list button, as shown at the top of the page. If successful, a number one should appear. Type any text and press Enter to start the next number in the numbered list.

It's easy to enter a SEQ field manually. Begin by pressing Ctrl+F9. When Word displays the blank field, enter seq list1, as shown in Figure A. List1 is a required argument; you can use any descriptive name you like as long as it begins with an alpha character.

Change the numbering in a numbered listDouble-click the numbers in the list. The text won't appear selected.Right-click the number you want to change.Click Set Numbering Value.In the Set value to: box, use the arrows to change the value to the number you want.
