Recover an earlier version of an Office file Open the file you were working on. Go to File > Info. Under Manage Workbook or Manage Presentation, select the file labeled (when I closed without saving). In the bar at the top of the file, select Restore to overwrite any previously saved versions.

Open the file you want to restore and go to File > Info. If the file has previous versions, you'll see a button named Version History. Select it to see the list of versions. In the Version History pane on the right, select a version to view it.

Enable File History. As mentioned earlier, the error ?there are no previous versions available? usually appears when you have not turned on File History. To fix that error, you need to enable File History to make a backup of your files using File History first.

To restore an Excel file to its previous version, navigate to the "File" tab, click on "Info," then "Manage Workbook," and select "Recover Unsaved Workbooks." Choose the desired version from the list and click "Open" to restore it.

Open the file you want to view. Click the title of your file and select Version history. Select a version to open it in a separate window. If you want to restore a previous version you've opened, select Restore.

Excel can display a separate history sheet that provides a printable list of change details on which you can filter to find the changes that you are interested in. The history sheet is useful when a workbook has many changes or when you want to investigate what occurred in a series of changes.

Restore Previous Versions (PC) ? In Windows, if you right-click on a file, and go to ?Properties,? you will see an option titled ?Previous Versions.? This option can help you revert to a version of your file before the overwrite occurred, allowing you to get your data back.
