If you just need to auto-size a range of cell comment boxes, you can use the following VBA code. Hold down the ALT + F11 keys, and it opens the Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications window. Click Insert > Module, and paste the following macro in the Module window.

Change comment shape Open the Customize QAT drop-down menu and choose the More Commands option. You will see the Excel Options dialog window on your screen. Pick Drawing Tools | Format Tab from the Choose commands from drop-down menu. Choose Change Shape in the list of commands. Click Add and then OK.

Change a Comment Shape Right-click the cell which contains the comment. Click on the border of the comment, to select it. On the QAT, click the Change Shape command, and click on a shape to select it.

If you need to edit the note, right-click the cell, and then click Edit Comment. If you're using Excel for Office 365, right-click the cell and choose Edit Note. If you need to delete the note, right-click the cell and choose Delete Comment.

If you want all comment boxes to be the same size, hold down the "Shift" key while you click on each box you want to resize. Then, click on one of the boxes and drag it to the desired size. All of the other selected boxes will change size ingly.
