The higher register in the voice is known as head voice, which consists of a bright tone that is focused on resonance in bones and cavities of your face and head. Since this register is rarely used in speech, it is often the most difficult for many beginning singers, and requires lots of work.

Let's define ?register break? as those few transitional notes that crossover from your lower to your upper range where your voice suddenly cracks, becomes weak or is difficult to control. In classical voice training, this is called the ?passage? or passagio (a passageway between two sections of vocal range).

What is a countertenor? A countertenor is a male singer who can sing as high as a soprano or mezzo-soprano. The countertenor is the rarest of all voice types.

WHISTLE (OR FLAGEOLET) REGISTER The whistle register, (typically occurring between C6 and D7), is the highest register of the human voice, and refers to the register above the head register in female voices.

The main vocal registers that singers use are chest register, for lower singing, and head register, for higher singing. Some singers use the vocal fry register when they want to sing even lower, and some singers use the whistle register when they want to sing even higher.
