An invoice sent by a seller to an international buyer detailing the goods to be purchased and the precise terms of the purchase, including purchase price and currency. This document should also provide the Harmonized code(s) of the goods to ensure the correct calculation of customs duties.

However, the difference is, the origin: the seller prepares and sends a proforma invoice to the buyer. When it comes to a purchase order, it's the buyer (and its accounts payable department) who issues and sends it to the seller and uses the document for invoice matching when disbursing payment.

Proforma applies to invoices that are not yet completed which means that the invoices do not have an invoice number that is needed for every legal invoice. Unlike an invoice, a proforma invoice is an estimate or a quote that outlines the goods and services that a seller commits to selling.

A pro forma invoice is not an original/tax invoice. Therefore, it does not have any legal validity. Hence it does not legally bind either party in a supply transaction.

The PO is prepared by the buyer when they order goods or services, while an invoice is created by the seller to request payment for the goods sold. The PO is sent to the seller, while the invoice is sent to the buyer.

Go to VF02, give the proforma reference and select "Billing document -- Complete". By doing so, the status would change to "Cancelled".
