Plan Release For Free

The goal of Release Planning is to when various sets of usable functionality or products will be delivered to the customer which to enable the Scrum Team to have an overview of the releases and delivery schedule for the product being developed.

The release plan presents a roadmap of how the team intends to achieve the project vision within the scope of project objectives and constraints. It helps the product owner and whole team decide how much must be developed and how long it will take before they have a releasable product.

A release plan outlines immediate future releases but doesn't try to plan for years to come. It goes into more detail than a product roadmap (high-level scope and timeline). But an Agile release plan doesn't outline the work in each release. Instead, it batches iterations or sprints together into releases.

Definition: A release plan is a tactical document designed to capture and track the features planned for an upcoming release. A release plan usually spans only a few months and is typically an internal working document for product and development teams.

Scrum release planning isn't part of the original processes or meetings in the Scrum Guide. Since the focus of Scrum is on shorter sprints, some teams work without release planning at all. Instead, they just release the product increment.
