Whatever the format, in British English, dates are usually written in the order day ? month ? year, while in American English they are written month ? day ? year.

The international standard recommends writing the date as year, then month, then the day: YYYY-MM-DD. So if both Australians and Americans used this, they would both write the date as 2019-02-03. Writing the date this way avoids confusion by placing the year first. Much of Asia uses this form when writing the date.

Drag down the column to select the dates you want to sort. Click Home tab > arrow under Sort & Filter, and then click Sort Oldest to Newest, or Sort Newest to Oldest.

Place the year before the month and conclude with the day. The same date, which would be 10/09/22 in American English but 09/10/22 in British English becomes 2022-10-09 in the International Standard. You could also write this date out as 2022 October 9. Don't use commas between any of the data points.

You just use the standard Ascending Sort option: Select the dates you want to sort chronologically. On the Home tab, in the Formats group, click Sort & Filter and select Sort Oldest to Newest. Alternatively, you can use the A-Z option on the Data tab, in the Sort & Filter group.

Method 1: Using sort() and lambda functions Sort the list of dates using the sort() function by passing the argument as the lambda function.
