So your highest score is really all law schools care about. Meaning, a lower score on a LSAT retake should not hurt you.

Beginning with the August 2023 LSAT, most test takers will have the option of whether to take the test at home in an online, live, remotely proctored format or in-person at a digital testing center. Our goal in offering two different test modes is to give each test taker a choice of which option works best for them.

The LSAC currently allows test takers to cancel their score six days after the exam. (It must be done by PM ET on the sixth day.) No applicant wants his or her LSAT score to drop upon taking the exam for a second or third time.

Once your score is released, it becomes a permanent part of your record, and you will not be permitted to cancel that score unless you have purchased LSAT Score Preview.

If you decide to cancel your score after you have taken the LSAT, you must call LSAC directly at 800-551-8378 no later than the following day (e.g., Tuesday at pm ET). If you do not call by this deadline, your cancellation request will not be processed.

Due to the difficulty of the test, law schools generally understand that students may not receive their ideal score the first time around. As a rule, schools look for score improvements overall, and do not necessarily view multiple attempts at the LSAT as a negative factor on an application.
