A bad GPA might keep you out, but a good GPA won't get you in, not without a good LSAT. However, a high LSAT score can and frequently does eclipse a low GPA.

A score over 160 should place you in a good position for admission in most of the law schools in the country. Scoring below 140 will deem you unfit for most law schools. Your GPA also plays a huge part in your admissions process. If you have a lower GPA, aim for a high LSAT score.

With a minimum LSAT score of 140 and a 2.90 GPA, your chances of getting into this school are excellent. The tuition fees are also attractive if you are a resident of the state, about $19,000, but if you are a non-resident, a full-time J.D. program costs about $41,000.

However, among the highest-ranked law schools, the norm is to admit people with near-perfect college grades. All of the top-10 law schools had median GPAs of 3.7 or higher. Seven of these 10 schools had a median GPA that was at least a 3.8, and among those three had a median GPA that was a 3.9 or above.

The short answer is to submit your application as early as you can. However, don't expect admissions offices to review it, and a decision to be made, until after they receive your new LSAT score.

While LSAT is the most important factor, GPA is still very important. When you get down into schools lower in the rankings (outside the top 10 schools), numbers alone become an even better predictor of how likely you are to get into a specific school. LSAT is still the more important number than GPA.
