A lease addendum is a legally binding document that both landlords and tenants agree to and sign (i.e., you can't add it to the lease without the tenant's knowledge!). Addendums modify the original lease agreement and/or provide additional information related to specific rental policies.

What is a Lease Amendment? A Lease Amendment is used to modify an existing Lease Agreement between a tenant and landlord by adding or removing clauses, or changing existing clauses. An amendment allows the parties to change the terms without having to sign a new Lease Agreement.

Your landlord can change a rental agreement at any time during the term of the agreement, with or without your consent. Changes must be made with adequate notice; notice periods are 30 days in most states. Changing a lease is harder because both parties must consent to almost any change.

When you sign a lease, you have signed a binding contract. Unless the landlord signed a document agreeing to terminate the lease, the lease will still be in effect. Most leases specifically state that the lease may not be modified verbally, and that any modification must be in writing for it to be valid.

Restructured Leases means the unexpired leases of the Debtor, other than Sales Office Leases, that have been amended or otherwise restructured, on or after August 6, 2003, to the mutual satisfaction of Redback and the applicable landlord, and which are listed as a restructured lease on the Schedule of Executory

Can a landlord change the lease after it is signed? No. Landlords cannot make changes to the lease after either party signs it. If the tenant agrees to add in some changes, both parties will need to sign the agreement again to ensure it is legally valid.

The lease cannot be altered except through another written agreement signed by both parties unless the original lease specifically gives a party the power to change something on their own.Therefore, both parties will normally need to draw up a lease amendment agreement and sign it.
