Highlight, underline, or strike though text In the Preview app on your Mac, open the PDF you want to change. Do any of the following: Quickly highlight, underline, or strike through text: Select text, click the down arrow next to the Highlight button , then choose a highlight color, underline, or strikethrough.

If you want to highlight a whole line of text, move your cursor to the start of the line, hold the Shift key, and then press the Down arrow . You may also use the shortcut key combination Shift + End . If you want to highlight all text (the entire page), press the shortcut key Ctrl + A .

Position the mouse cursor at the beginning of the text, click and hold the mouse button, drag to the end of the text, then let go of the mouse button. You can also select text by holding down Shift and then moving the cursor with the arrow keys. Click Insert > Highlight on the menu bar. Your text is now highlighted.

All you do is hold down Option + Command while you're selecting text. Wait until your select text cursor becomes a cross, then drag to select the text you want.
