Agricultural inputs are defined as products permitted for use in organic farming. These include feedstuffs, fertilizers and permitted plant protection products as well as cleaning agents and additives used in food production. All listed products can be retrieved here.

The most commonly accepted organic inputs are manure, slurry and green compost. By decomposing and fermenting, organic materials from the farm or outside allow organic inputs to form.

Practice for Organic Farming: Soil fertility is maintained through cultivation of legumes, green manuring and crop rotation. Incorporation of organic matter/manure. Application of bio-fertilizers. Application of minimum tillage. Adoption of soil and water conservation techniques.

ACO offers certification program for Allowed Inputs (AI) for products that are used in organic farming or processing. These are products such as fertilizers, natural pesticides, cleaners, and animal health products.

Biological inputs are agroindustrial products or processes developed from enzymes, extracts (from plants or microorganisms), microorganisms, macroorganisms (invertebrates), secondary metabolites, and pheromones, which are intended for biological control.

Consumable inputs include materials such as seeds, fertilisers, pest control chemicals, manure, and even physical labour that are used up or consumed by the crops during farming. They are often organic and essential to the productivity of the farming venture.

"Organically grown" food is food grown and processed using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Pesticides derived from natural sources (such as biological pesticides) may be used in producing organically grown food.
