Index Table Text For Free

Text indexes support text search queries on fields containing string content. Text indexes improve performance when searching for specific words or phrases within string content. A collection can only have one text index, but that index can cover multiple fields.

text index is defined as part of a CREATE TABLE statement or added to an existing table using ALTER TABLE or CREATE INDEX . Fulltext search is performed using MATCH() ... AGAINST syntax. For usage information, see Section 12.9, ?FullText Search Functions?.

To create a full-text index choose your table and right-click on that table and select the ? Define Full-Text Index? option. Now select Unique Index. It is compulsory that for ?Full-Text Index? table must have at least one unique index. Select columns name and language types for columns.

Create the index Click where you want to add the index. On the References tab, in the Index group, click Insert Index. In the Index dialog box, you can choose the format for text entries, page numbers, tabs, and leader characters. You can change the overall look of the index by choosing from the Formats dropdown menu.

Expand Tables, and right-click the table that you want to disable or re-enable for full-text indexing. Select Full-Text index, and then select Disable Full-Text index or Enable Full-Text index.

In SQL Server Management Studio, in Object Explorer, expand the server. Expand Databases, and then expand the database that contains the full-text index. Expand Tables. Right-click the table on which the full-text index is defined, select Full-Text index, and on the Full-Text index context menu, select Properties.

For tables containing a timestamp column, you can use incremental population instead of change tracking. When you enable change tracking during index creation, SQL Server fully populates the new full-text index immediately after it is created. Thereafter, changes are tracked and propagated to the full-text index.
