Tip: When you are editing a cell that contains a formula, you can press F9 to permanently replace the formula with its calculated value.

Method 1: Copy and paste values to convert formulas to text strings. Copy-and-paste value is one of Excel's most frequently used methods for converting complex formulas to values. You can use the copy-and-paste values method on a cell and a range of cells.

To copy the actual value instead of the formula from the cell to another worksheet or workbook, you can convert the formula in its cell to its value by doing the following: Press F2 to edit the cell. Press F9, and then press ENTER.

To get Excel to properly display the result: Select the cell. Format the cell as "General". (Right-click the cell, select Format Cells, and choose "General.") Delete the "=" at the beginning of your formula, and hit Enter. Insert the "=" back in the formula at the beginning.

Press Ctrl + C to copy the formulas, or Ctrl + X to cut them. Use the latter shortcut if you want to move formulas to a new location. Open Notepad or any other text editor and press Ctrl + V to paste the formulas there. Then press Ctrl + A to select all the formulas, and Ctrl + C to copy them as text.
