Have PDF Documents Signed For Free

You can digitally sign a document to securely record the identity of the author, and to verify the content has not changed. Digital signatures in a PDF document can show text, or an image such as a photo or an image of your handwritten signature.

Open the PDF document or form that you want to sign. Click the global sign icon in the toolbar. Alternatively, choose Tools > Fill & Sign. To add text, such as your name, company, title, or date, drag and drop your personal saved information from the right pane onto a form field.

Open the PDF containing the signature, then click the signature. The Signature Validation Status dialog box describes the validity of the signature. For more information about the Signature and Timestamp, click Signature Properties. The time is based on the local time on the signer's computer.

Open the Preferences dialog box. Under Categories, select Signatures. For Verification, click More. To automatically validate all signatures in a PDF when you open the document, select Verify Signatures When The Document Is Opened.

If a blue ribbon symbol appears, that means the signature is sent by a trusted signer and the signature has been verified as valid. If a yellow yield sign symbol appears that means you should take caution because the document was signed by a source that isn't recognized.

Open a PDF document containing a digital signature. Right-click a signature on the page and then select Verify Signature from the shortcut menu. The Validation Status information box shows the results. Click Properties for more information about the signature.
