If you're charged for data sent to your phone, the bill likely will show when it was sent. However, the phone bill doesn't tell you what was written in a text message or show you the picture.

Formal discovery requires a party to disclose anything asked by the other party which is relevant and within the control of the party. This includes text messages (unless they were deleted). Failure to answer discovery may result in the finding of contempt against the spouse.

For copying or printing messages from an Android phone, we'll need Droid Transfer. Droid Transfer can access your Android device's data and copy it to your PC or print it out. The software can find any SMS or MMS message conversations on your device, and print them in the order they were sent.

If you have enabled Google Drive backups on your Android phone, you can restore your backup to recover the deleted text messages. The main caveat with using this method is that, to restore your backup, you will have to reset your phone to the factory settings.

You'll need to log into the same Google account you use to back up the texts if you need to retrieve text messages from an old phone to a new one with the same number. On your phone screen, tap Google Drive app to open it up. Tap the Menu button located at the top left corner of the screen. Then, tap Backups.

Request Text Transcripts You can contact your phone company to try to obtain detailed logs of the texts you've exchanged. In some cases, such as when multiple people use the same phone, you may need a court order to access the information for privacy reasons.

The first way is to look in your cell phone messaging inbox and outbox. Unless you erase a message, your phone keeps track of all your text messages. The other way to see your text message history is to log in to your online account on your cell phone provider's website.
