Sellers often prefer to close on the first of the month and receive their sales proceeds early on in order to accommodate their purchase of a replacement house or moving plans. When the purchase contract is signed, both parties will agree to a closing date that seems reasonable.

The completion date is the day the seller receives payment for the property, transferring ownership. They must vacate the home to allow the buyer to begin moving in. If a buyer has no property to sell, they can move into the house either on or after the completion day.

Conferral is the act of conferring or bestowing an award, where your academic achievement is recognised at a public ceremony. Conferral generally occurs at a graduation ceremony, either in your presence or in absentia, or at a scheduled meeting of University Council.

Attending the commencement ceremony does not mean that you have graduated. The conferral process is when we officially award your degree. This process will begin approximately four business days after the commencement ceremony.

The completion date, put simply, is moving day. It's the date on which the seller must vacate the property and the buyer will get the keys and can move in. Fundamentally, on completion, the buyer must, through their lawyer, hand over all the remaining money required to purchase the property.
