Add a section break Select where you want a new section to begin. Go to Layout > Breaks. Choose the type of section break you want: Next Page Section break starts the new section on the following page. Continuous Section break starts the new section on the same page.

Scroll down until you see the Page Layout options (Compatibility Options in Word 2019 and Word in Office 365). It is at the very bottom of the dialog box; you may need to click the arrow at the left side of the options to see them all. Make sure the Split Apart Page Break and Paragraph Mark check box is selected.

Word offers four types of section breaks: Next Page starts the new section on the next page. Continuous starts the new section on the same page, at the current position. Even Page starts the new section on the next even-numbered page. Odd Page starts the new section on the next odd-numbered page.

To insert a page break, press Ctrl+Enter.
