Starting with the 2021 tax year, a new Form 7203 replaces the supplemental Worksheet for Figuring a Shareholder's Stock and Debt Basis.

See Item D and Item E for details. Form 7203 and its separate instructions are developed to replace the 3-part Worksheet for Figuring a Shareholder's Stock and Debt Basis and its related instructions formerly found in the Shareholder's Instructions for Schedule K-1 (Form 1120-S).

S corporation shareholders use Form 7203 to figure the potential limitations of their share of the S corporation's deductions, credits, and other items that can be deducted on their individual returns.

Form 7203 is required to be attached by all shareholders to their Form 1040 tax returns, including individuals, trusts and estates who meet the above-mentioned criteria. The S corporations do not have to attach the Form 7203 to Form 1120S.

Each quarter is three months long and begins on Jan. 1 of each year. The Form 720 is due on the last day of the month following the end of the quarter. For example, you must file a Form 720 by April 30 for the quarter ending on March 31.

All section 501(c)(3) organizations that make a political expenditure must file Form 4720 to report the liability and pay the tax (Schedule F and Part I, line 5).
