Penalty for Not Publishing your Florida Fictitious Name Any person who fails to comply with the statute commits a second degree misdemeanor, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. By having us publish your fictitious name this can be avoided.

The name you register must be advertised at least once in a newspaper that is located within the county where your principal place of business is located (Chapter 50, Florida Statutes). However, proof of advertisement is not required.

Owners only need to complete Section 4 to cancel their DBA. Once the pertinent section is completed, the fictitious name holder must return the completed application with a check or money order, made out to the Florida Department of State. They must also pay a $50 application fee.

You may obtain the Application for Business Registration Certificate at the SF Tax Collector's Office. Complete the Fictitious Business Name Statement form. Go to the County Clerk's Information Counter to submit the completed Fictitious Business Name (FBN) form.
