Note: Lists and libraries contain required columns that can't be deleted, such as the Title or Name. If the column can't be deleted, the Delete button is not available. To hide the column, select the column header, then Column settings and then Hide this column.

Delete a site column from SharePoint Select Settings, Site information, and then View all site settings.Under Web Designer Galleries, select Site columns.Scroll to the site column you want to delete and select the name. Select Delete. If you're sure you want to delete the site column permanently, select OK.

Add columns to a form using drag and drop On the command bar, select Add column, or in the left pane, select Columns.

Go to the list or library that you want to delete a column from. , Site Contents, and then select the name of your list or library. Select the column header for the column that you want to delete, and from the menu, select Column settings > Edit. At the bottom of the Edit Column pane, select Delete.

Under Content Types, select the name of the content type that you want to remove a column from. On the Change Content Type Column page, under Columns, select the column name you want to remove. Select Remove. Confirm the column removal by selecting OK.

To modify a column, click the column in the list, click Modify, and then make the appropriate changes. Note: Some options for adding, removing, or modifying columns are available only when you publish to a SharePoint site.
