The United States is one of the few countries that use ?mm-dd-yyyy? as their date format?which is very very unique! The day is written first and the year last in most countries (dd-mm-yyyy) and some nations, such as Iran, Korea, and China, write the year first and the day last (yyyy-mm-dd).

The international standard recommends writing the date as year, then month, then the day: YYYY-MM-DD.

Dd/MM/yyyy ? Example: 23/06/2013. yyyy/M/d ? Example: 2013/6/23. yyyy-MM-dd ? Example: 2013-06-23.

At first place, provide a help text inside Date input control that guides the user about required format of date input. Next is to define input validation. Indicate user if he enters an invalid format and guide him how to make it correct. Change the color of input box to Red that indicates an error in the input.
