Copy Equation License For Free

The Free for Teachers program for Equatio has come to an end. On June 30th, our Free for Teachers program for Equatio will be coming to a close. This means we will no longer be accepting new applications. However, anyone with a current Free for Teachers licence will continue to have access for one more year.

Can I patent a formula? You cannot patent formulas for Mathematics, but you can patent formula applications such as software for applying the patent formula. If something is new, original, and useful can it be patented? If it involves an inventive step and is useful to trade or agriculture it can be patented.

Mathematical principles, formulas, algorithms, or equations. In the US facts are not copyrightable, so in general math is not copyrightable. You can copyright creative expressions that use math formulas, but only that expression itself would be covered.

Equatio is a freemium/premium product, which means that there is a free version and a paid version. The free version gives you access to all key features that enable you to make math digital, while the premium version offers additional features that take digital math to the next level.

However, there is a general rule that you cannot patent a mathematical formula itself, as it is not considered a new and useful process, or individual intellectual property. While you can't patent formulas, there are other ways you can seek protection for applied mathematical formulas or mathematical calculations.

If you need to use an equation, add or write one in your Office app. Select Insert > Equation or press Alt + =. To use a built-in formula, select Design > Equation. To create your own, select Design > Equation > Ink Equation.

Ideas are not copyrightable, only particular expressions thereof. In the case of a mathematical formula, it could be argued that since there is a standardized notation for expressing mathematical concepts, the idea and the expression are inseparable, therefore copyright protection does not apply.

Works not covered by copyright law Mathematical formulae will therefore generally form part of the public domain, to the extent that their expression in the form of software is not covered by copyright.

Click Home > Cut (or press Ctrl + X). Select the cell you want the formula to be in, and then click Paste (or press Ctrl + V). Verify that the cell references are still what you want. Tip: You can also right-click the cells to cut and paste the formula.
