Searching for Footnote and Endnote Marks Press Ctrl+F to display the Find tab of the Find and Replace dialog box. (See Figure 1.) In the Find What box, enter the text for which you want to search. To search for a footnote mark, enter ^f.Set other searching parameters, as desired. Click on Find Next.

The Footnotes pane appears at the bottom of your document. You can edit the color or style of the separator by choosing options on the Home tab, or, to delete the separators, click Footnote Separator in the Footnotes list, and then select and delete the separator line.

Insert footnotes and endnotes Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote. Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.

Go to the Insert menu and click Footnote to open the Footnote and Endnote box. Select the options you want in the Footnote and Endnote box. You can choose between footnotes and endnotes, numbering format, custom marks and symbols, a starting number, and whether to apply the numbering to the whole document.

If you want to change the formatting of the footnote text at the bottom of the page, select the Footnote Text Style. Click Modify, and then change the formatting options (font, size, and so on). For even more formatting options, click the Format button in the lower-left corner.

Word for Windows (2010 and 2007) Open your document and select the References tab. In the Footnotes group, click Show Notes. Select the notes you want to convert, and then right-click. Select Convert to Footnote or Convert to Endnote.

In Microsoft Word and other word processor programs, pressing Ctrl + M indents the paragraph. If you press this keyboard shortcut more than once, it continues to indent further. For example, you could hold down the Ctrl and press M three times to indent the paragraph by three units. Tip.
