The <input type="checkbox"> defines a checkbox. The checkbox is shown as a square box that is ticked (checked) when activated. Checkboxes are used to let a user select one or more options of a limited number of choices.

state checkbox can be checked, not checked, or partially checked. The condition of being partially checked is based on the selection of child elements. If all child elements are selected, the parent checkbox is checked.

The Input Checkbox name property in HTML DOM is used to set or return the value of name attribute of a input checkbox field. The name attribute is required for each input field. If the name attribute is not specified in an input field then the data of that field would not be sent at all.

The CheckBox control has two important properties, Checked and CheckState. The Checked property returns either true or false . The CheckState property returns either Checked or Unchecked; or, if the ThreeState property is set to true , CheckState may also return Indeterminate.

Description. The defaultChecked property returns the default value of the checked attribute. This property returns true if the checkbox is checked by default, otherwise it returns false.

The value property only has meaning when submitting a form. If a checkbox is in checked state when the form is submitted, the name of the checkbox is sent along with the value of the value property (if the checkbox is not checked, no information is sent).
