Topic 606 establishes the principles to report useful information to users of financial statements about the nature, timing, and uncertainty of revenue from contracts with customers. Simplifies the preparation of financial statements by reducing the number of requirements to which organizations must refer.

Excerpt from ASC 606-10-25-9 The determination of whether to combine two or more contracts is made at contract inception. Contracts must be entered into with the same customer (or related parties of the customer) at or near the same time in order to account for them as a single contract.

Combined Contracts means contracts between Seller and Customers that include Managed Services and Other Services in the same contract.

Combining Contracts ASC 606 requires the entity to combine two or more contracts entered into at or near the same time with the same customer. The guidance does not provide parameters for how much time is considered near the same time; entities will have to use their own judgement when applying this rule.

What is ASC 606? Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 606 provides businesses with a universal framework for recognizing revenue from customer sales. The ASC 606 standards affect pricing and customer contracts for both private and public businesses and describe how to recognize the revenue from those contracts.

In contrast, IFRS 15 states that contracts are combined when the goods or services promised in the contract are a single performance obligation. In addition, IFRS 15 provides more specific guidance on when to combine contracts than IAS 18, and combining of contracts is required when those conditions are met.
