A logline is a condensed form of a movie plot consisting of a single sentence of 50 words. It has to be compelling enough to promote the movie or script. It should be present at the beginning of the script.

The logline is truly an art form of its own. It's the one or two sentence summary of your film that not only conveys your premise, but also gives the reader emotional insight into the story as a whole.

A logline is typically just one or two clear, concise sentences. Some set a word limit of around 35 words. A logline should swiftly convey what a screenplay is about, including the main character, central conflict, setup and antagonist.

A killer logline is a must have....First, write down: SETTING: When and where your story takes place. PROTAGONIST: Who your main character (hero or heroine) is. PROBLEM: The issue or event that causes your Protagonist to take action. ANTAGONIST: Who or what tries to stop your Protagonist.

Neither a logline nor a tagline should be present on your title page. The tagline isn't your job to write, and the logline is something they already have within the query email you sent or through the correspondence of your representation.

Reservoir Dogs: After a simple jewelry heist goes terribly wrong, the surviving criminals begin to suspect that one of them is a police informant.

An elevator pitch is your script's concept, boiled down to a bite-sized portion of words. Also known as loglines, they're a bit like short sales pitches; they're a two or three sentence long summary of your script's plotand they'll dress to impress.
