Step 2: In Define New Bullet dialog box, click Symbol button. Step 3: In Symbol window, select Wingdings from the Font drop-down menu. Method 2: On the Word Ribbon menu, under the tab Insert, within the group Illustrations, click icon Shapes. From the drop-down list, click the shape Rectangle. Change its dimensions to make it a perfect square. Copy and paste the same to create multiple checkboxes.

Select the list in your Word document. In the Home tab of Microsoft Word, under the Paragraph section, click the small down-arrow next to the Bullets button. In the resulting dialog box, click Symbol. When you open the Symbol window, select Wingdings from the Font drop-down menu.

On the right-hand Customize the Ribbon list, select Main Tabs on the dropdown menu. Notice that the Developer tab is added to your Ribbon. Just position your cursor in the document where you want a check box, switch to the Developer tab, and then click the Check Box Content Control button.

Create your list. Place you cursor at the start of the first line. Go to the Developer tab, and then click Check Box. If you want a space after the check box, press Tab or Spacebar. Select and copy (2318 + C) the check box and any tabs or spaces.

Click the "Developer" tab, then click the "Legacy Tools" button in the Controls group. Click the check box control to insert a check box into the current document.

Type the text to apply the checkbox. Select the Developer tab. Place your cursor at the beginning of the sentence you've written. Select the Check Box Content Control that adds a check mark. Choose somewhere else in the document to apply it.
