A linked record field represents a relationship between two different objects, ideas, or people. You can use it to link two tables together, like Artists and Albums. You can convert an existing field into a linked record to create a new linked table or you can link two existing tables together.

Once your linked record field has been created, you can create links using the linked record picker. To bring up the linked record picker while in a grid view, click the + button inside a cell. To bring up the linked record picker while in an expanded record, click the + Link to a record from table button.

Through Airtable Sync, you can automatically sync views (and the records within them) from one base to another. While we do not support linking to individual records across bases at this time, a common workaround is to simply put all related tables into the same base.

A record is the base equivalent of a row in a spreadsheet. Each record is basically an item in a list. For example, in a table of books, each record is a different book. Unlike a spreadsheet, a record in a mobile Airtable base appears as a tappable card.

When linking two tables together, by creating a linked record field, Airtable automatically establishes a co-dependent relationship by creating another linked record field in the second table. This relationship allows the two tables to share information freely with one another based on the records you choose to link.
