If you have been receiving a fishy text from a number you do not recognize stating your device may be locked soon, have a free gift or asking you to check your bill with a link shortener, we highly recommend not opening it.

This is like a computer virus that can be installed on an Android device if you click on a malicious link in a SMS message, to install the malware app, it then sends many similar text messages to other people from your phone without your knowledge.
