If you copy text that includes footnote or endnote reference marks and paste it elsewhere, the footnotes and endnotes will come with it--unless you're using Paste Special to paste as unformatted text. Was this reply helpful? Maybe I shouldn't, but I am.

Insert footnotes and endnotes Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote. Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.

Footnotes appear on the bottom of the page that contains the sentence to which it refers. Endnotes are listed at the end of the paper on separate pages. On the top of the first page, the title ?Notes? is centered one inch from the top of the page. Endnote pages are placed before the bibliography.

Highlight all the footnotes and copy the footnotes to the clipboard by pressing Ctrl+C.

Press Ctrl+C. The footnote reference mark and the associated footnote are copied to the Clipboard. Position the insertion point at the location where you want to copy the footnote. Press Ctrl+V.

Footnotes and Cross References Place your cursor at the point in the footnote where you want the note number to appear. Go to "References," then click "Cross-reference." Change the ?Reference type" dropdown to "Footnote" and leave the ?Insert as hyperlink? box checked.
