To upload a file, tap Attach, select the file, and tap Upload. To attach a Drive item, tap Drive. To decide how students interact with an attachment, next to the attachment, tap Preview. To attach a link, tap Link. To attach a file, tap Upload .

From the Options menu, click Add Assignment or Add Ungraded Assignment. In the Resources Provided by the Teacher field, click Select Google Doc. From the Google Docs pick list, select the document you want to associate with the assignment. Select Make Student Editable, and then click Save.

In short, Google Drive Assignments allows you to create an assignment for your students AND attach a Google Doc/Slide/Sheet file to the assignment. The beauty of this feature is that a copy of the template file is created for each student in your class, and that file is shared back with the teacher.

When you assign to a class imported from Google Classroom, you will see an option to choose 'Students Write in a Google Doc', which lets students access an embedded Google Doc inside Writable. The student will open their stream post, open the link to Writable, and see a screen like this one.

Click Select Google Doc. From the Google Docs pick list, select the document you want to associate with the assignment. Click Save, and then select Make Student Editable.

To open your copy of an Assignment attachment: Select Open to view your Assignment Submission page. Click on the file that was created for you in the center area of the Submission page. Depending on the file's compatibility, your copy will either be opened in Microsoft Office Online or in Google for you to edit.
