Assignment Add Arrow For Free

Traditionally in R <- is the preferred assignment operator and = is thought as an amateurish alias for it. The <- notation is preferred by some for the very good reason that <- always means assignment. Whereas = can mean assignment, function argument binding or case statement depending on context.

The assignment operator is used to assign a value.However, R uses = to associate function arguments with values (i.e. f(x = 3) explicitly means to call function f and set the argument x to 3. Consequently, most R programmers prefer to keep = reserved for argument association and use <- for assignment.

The operators <- and = can be used, almost interchangeably, to assign to variable in the same environment. The <<- operator is used for assigning to variables in the parent environments (more like global assignments).

%>% has no builtin meaning but the user (or a package) is free to define operators of the form %whatever% in any way they like. For example, this function will return a string consisting of its left argument followed by a comma and space and then it's right argument.

<- is a operator only work with channel,it means put or get a message from a channel. channel is an important concept in go,especially in concurrent programming.

There's a shortcut in RStudio to generate the arrow: Alt + -.

It really boils down to preference. Many people are more used to using = for assignment, and it's one less keystroke if you want to save on typing. On the other hand, many R traditionalists prefer <- for clarity, and if you plan to share or publish your code, other might find code using = for assignment hard to read.
