Official paper transcripts are sent in a sealed, signature-stamped envelope. An electronic transcript is considered OFFICIAL if the intended party is the direct email recipient. If emailed to the requestor, then forwarded, it is then considered UNOFFICIAL.

Official PDF Transcripts You can send it to one or more recipients in several ways: Download the PDF and send it to the recipient. Generate access codes and provide those access codes to your recipients, invite recipients to visit the pickup site, and track the date when each recipient downloads your transcript.

When you are ready to send a transcript, you simply sign onto your Clearinghouse secure account, upload the file, and specify the recipient (consult the registry to obtain the recipient's identification number and file type). Each time you successfully upload a file, you will receive a confirmation email.

You can also search for your school district at the National Center for Education Statistics website. The district will still have student records for all the high schools that belonged to the district and should be able to get you a copy of your transcript and send official copies on your behalf.

Step 4: Enter the information into a formal transcript template. There are several options: you can create a transcript through an online form; pay to have a transcript created professionally; download and customize a template; or design your own transcript using a word processor.

Do not mark or alter your transcript other than redacting the SSN. You should create and upload a PDF of the transcript issued to you by the registrar at your institution. If the transcript is issued to you in a sealed envelope, it is acceptable for you to open it for the purpose of uploading.
