Assemble Bookmark Text For Free

Select text, a picture, or a place in your document where you want to insert a bookmark. Click Insert > Bookmark. Under Bookmark name, type a name and click Add. Note: Bookmark names need to begin with a letter.

When you change the text in the bookmark, make sure you edit inside the brackets (use Tools Options View and click Bookmarks to see them). Then select Edit Select All (or press Ctrl A), and press F9 to update the text in all the Ref fields.

To create a link to the bookmark (such as in a list or table of contents at the top of the document), highlight the text you'd like it to link from and "Hyperlink" from the "Insert" tab. 5.
