Some companies have hundreds of positions, while others only have five or 10. Business roles are important because they enable business owners to assign certain tasks and titles to employees. This ensures that each employee fully understands their duties and are better able to contribute to the organization's success.

In lots of situations, you'll meet with external people in more than one capacity. Then you will have to pick something or have a double title: "Jane Doe, Marketing and HR, ACME LLC."

In general, the chief executive officer (CEO) is considered the highest-ranking officer in a company, while the president is second in charge. However, in corporate governance and structure, several permutations can take shape, so the roles of both CEO and president may be different depending on the company.

Recently I was asked a question, Can I have two employees with the same job title, but with different exempt/nonexempt classifications? The simple answer is yes, this is possible. From a compliance standpoint, federal and California law agree that job title is not determinative of exemption status.

The simplest way to structure job levels is to bucket roles into three categories: entry-level, mid-level, and senior-level. This model doesn't allow for much progression between levels, and people may stall in the mid-levelcausing them to leave.

Decisions. The buyer and seller reach an agreement about who selects and pays for title insurance. In some cases, the buyer selects the title company and pays for a lender's insurance policy. Sometimes the seller selects the title company and pays for an owner's title insurance policy.
