Ensure the arrows shown on the links are pointing down. When removing links, hold one end of the pin pusher against the pin to be removed. Strike the other end of the pin pusher with the metal side of the watch hammer until the pin slides out. It will slide out in the direction of the arrow on the links.

Remove Links Place the watch in the holder or on the foam with the arrows are facing downwards. Using the hammer, lightly tap the end of the push-pin tool over the cotter pins until you can no longer push the pin inside the link. When the pin pops through, remove it using your fingers or a small set of pliers.

Important information for resizing your watch strap: On the inside of the band you will see some small arrows on some links. Only the pins from these links can be removed. The arrow points to the side where the pin should go out. Make sure when tapping the pin back, the split side of the pushpin goes in last.

These arrows indicate which direction the connecting pin has to be moved to remove when splitting the links to adjust the length of the bracelet. As these pins are often tapered, the same orientation must be observed when replacing the pin - in this case against the arrow.

Use the pin pusher or spring bar removal tool to push the pin that secures that particular link, following the direction of the printed arrows on the underside of the metal link. You should be able to push the pin 2 or 3mm and then pull it out from the other side using your pair of pliers or by hand.

Step 1: Measure Gather the links up until it fits the way you want and count how many are in excess. Plan to remove the links evenly from both sides of the watch so that your clasp remains in the middle.
