This is the date recorded on your transcript signifying when your degree was officially recognized. All requirements must be met by this date. Dates are published in the University's Academic Calendar.

If someone asks, explain. This is the correct answer - always use official dates for degrees etc. However, if the diploma or transcript notes something along the lines of "course requirements for degree completed in 2015" then noting that in the resume can make sense, assuming there's space for it.
