An amendment is typically used to change something that's part of an original contract. Think of amendments as modifications to the earliest agreement (for example, altering an agreed-upon deadline). An addendum is used to clarify and add things that were not initially part of the original contract or agreement.

Contract Date means the date set for bid opening or, if this is a negotiated contract or a modification, the effective date of this contract or modification.

Adjustment dates are also the first day that interest will begin to accrue on a home mortgage. This day is the date of the disbursement of money to the involved parties. As a contract exists as a legally binding agreement between interested parties, it can be legally modified after being signed. But this happens only with the agreement of all the parties and by adding an extra section, called a 'rider'.

It is not possible for one party to unilaterally change the terms of a contract, since contract law requires that both (or all) parties agree to the terms provided and signed.
