A change in the lease term or the assessment of whether the lessee will exercise an option to purchase the underlying asset and the discount rate for the lease already reflects that the lessee has an option to extend or terminate the lease or to purchase the underlying asset.

A lessee may also need to do one or more of the following depending on the reason for lease remeasurement: Reassess whether a contract is (or contains) a lease. Reallocate contract consideration. Reassess the lease classification. Update the discount rate used to remeasure the lease liability.

The modified lease consideration is at a discount to the current market rate for the additional term for this particular lease contract. Collectibility of lease payments is probable. Any additional right of use, the original contract and the modified contract meet the definition of a lease.

Create an asset lease Select Asset leasing, and then select Enable now. Go to Asset leasing > Common > Lease summary. Enter the required fields on the General FastTab. Move to the Payment schedule lines FastTab and enter a payment line, then select Create schedules.

Go to Lease > Leases > Lease adjustments. Select a lease that has an adjustment status of In progress, and then select Adjustment wizard. In the Modification start date and Posting date fields, enter the appropriate dates. Select Next.

Sometimes, it makes sense. While many leases in the market have special low money factors (interest rate for the lease), not all do. If you're leasing a vehicle with a high selling price and money factor, you may be better off initiating that lease with a significant down payment.

IFRS 16 Leases contains detailed guidance on how to account for lease modifications. A lease modification is defined as a change in the scope of a lease, or the consideration for a lease, that was not part of the original terms and conditions of the lease.
