Post-acute care aims to promote the functional recovery of older adults, prevent unnecessary hospital readmission, and avoid premature admission to a long-term care facility.

Length of stay data offers insights into care efficiency over time, including correlations between stay length and hospital-acquired conditions (HACs). Longer patient stays have been associated with an increased risk of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and higher mortality rates for some conditions.

Results of present study showed that many clinical and nonclinical factors such as age, employment, marital status, history of previous admission, patient condition at discharge, method of payment, and type of treatment can affect LOS.
