Eligibility. Psychologists outside the United States and Canada who are members of the national psychology association in the country in which they reside are eligible to join APA as International Affiliates.

As the first regional psychological association to establish a committee to enhance the role of women in the organization, the mandate of that early committee has subsequently been expanded to include psychologists in underrepresented groups broadly (Committee on Equality of Professional Opportunity, or CEPO).

Eligibility. To be a full member of APA you need a doctoral degree in psychology or a related field from: a regionally accredited institution; a school that achieved such accreditation within five years of the doctoral degree; or a school of similar standing outside of the United States.

High school students are able to take advantage of all APA member benefits at the low rate of $35. For an additional $32 you can also enjoy membership in the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS), a dynamic student-run organization devoted to helping members prepare for their career.

It's easier and more affordable than ever for students and new planners to get started in APA. In fact, membership is now free for any student actively enrolled or matriculated in any university or college degree program. It remains free for the duration of an individual's studies.
