Acquired by Toronto-Dominion Bank and merged into TD Banknorth to form TD Bank, N.A. TD Bank, N.A. Cherry Hill, New Jersey, U.S.

It offers a wide variety of financial products, including checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposits, credit cards, mortgages and consumer loans. While interest rates at Commerce Bank beat some of the country's biggest banks, they are not especially high.

Under a definitive agreement between the companies, United will acquire all of Virginia Commerce's outstanding shares in exchange for United common stock. The exchange ratio will be 0.5442 of United shares for each share of Virginia Commerce share.

On March 31, 2008, TD Bank Financial Group (TDBFG) acquired 100% of the outstanding shares of Commerce Bancorp, Inc. (Commerce), which was then a public company, and Commerce became a wholly-owned subsidiary of TDBFG.
