Testing of trains at 110 mph are underway. Once complete and approved, schedules will be modified for the reduced travel times and trains will begin operating at speeds up to 110 mph. It is anticipated this will be complete by 2023.

The interstate highway system cost $129 billion — roughly $290 billion in current dollars — and took 35 years to complete, running from 1957 to 1992. The $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill enacted in 2021 has $102 billion for rail, but none of the money is set aside for high-speed rail.

The Federal Railroad Administration's Regional Rail Plan envisions a Chicago to Twin Cities line as the spine of a regional railroad network. The line would create a 400-mile corridor of innovation. The vast majority of the line would be in Wisconsin—with stops in Madison and Milwaukee, at minimum.

On 1 April 2023, High Speed Rail resumes service to all destinations including Beijingxi, Shanghai Hongqiao, Hangzhoudong, Kunmingnan, Guilinxi, Wuhan and Xiamen, etc. With five new stations added to the network, Hong Kong West Kowloon Station is now connected to a total of 66 mainland destinations.

The project was cancelled after the 2010 election, after Scott Walker made it a centerpiece of his campaign for governor. Even if you remember that it was Walker who wanted to kill this train, there's a chance you don't remember who started it.
