The auditor is a state-level position in 48 states that supervises and has administrative rights over the accounting and financial functions of the state. Additionally, auditors act as watchdogs over other state agencies, performing internal government audits and investigating fraud allegations.

Cindy Byrd, CPA, is Oklahoma's 13th State Auditor & Inspector and the first woman elected to serve as the taxpayer's watchdog. A CPA with almost 25 years of government auditing experience, Cindy began her journey as an auditor in 1997.

The Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector, as the chief auditor for the State, is responsible for auditing the financial accounts of all government agencies within Oklahoma.
