The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10; Cohen, Kamarch, & Mermelstein,1983) is a popular tool for measuring psychological stress.

It is a measure of the degree to which situations in one's life are appraised as stressful. Items were designed to tap how unpredictable, uncontrollable, and overloaded respondents find their lives. The scale also includes a number of direct queries about current levels of experienced stress.

The original PSS comprises 14 items (PSS-14). Two shorten versions (PSS-10 and PSS-4) are also available which comprise 10 and 4 items selected from the PSS-14 respectively [7, 8].

The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) measures the degree to which situations in your life are perceived as stressful. The series of questions have been designed to assess how unpredictable, uncontrollable, and overloaded you feel your life to be, as well as a direct questione about your current level of experienced stress.

The PSS‐10 measures the degree to which life situations are appraised as unpredictable, uncontrollable, and stressful. It comprises 10 self‐report items, each rated on a 5‐point Likert‐type scale (0 = never to 4 = very often).

The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) is a classic stress assessment instrument. The tool, while originally developed in 1983, remains a popular choice for helping us understand how different situations affect our feelings and our perceived stress.
