A leave may be granted for a maximum of two consecutive semesters excluding summer. Under limited educational circumstances, a leave may be extended for up to two additional semesters for a maximum leave of 2 years in ance with Title 5 regulations in order to maintain your catalog rights.

If your Chico State or cumulative grade point average falls below 2.00, you will be placed on academic notice (formerly Academic Probation). In this case, you should meet with your major advisor and an advisor within the first two weeks of the semester to potentially make changes to your academic schedule or program.

Check your Student Center via the Portal to ensure that you have no holds that will prevent registration. Enrollment Limits: Undergraduate students may enroll in up to 21 units. Students wishing to add more than 21 units must fill out the Undergraduate Petition to Enroll in More than 21 Units (PDF).

The University Repeat Policy(opens in new window) allows a student to repeat courses for no more than a total of 28 units. In addition, students who have received a grade of “C-“ or lower for an individual course, may repeat the course if the major requires a grade higher than a “C”.

Students with future enrollments are responsible for dropping their classes via the Portal. If the Portal is unavailable, the student should contact the Student Records & Registration Office 530-898-5142.
